Over 15 people recently attended a Mixology 101 class hosted by Sunset Bar and Grill in Ripley, Ohio.  The class was offered in conjunction with Maysville Community College’s Community Connections program and was taught by Sunset employees, Jenny Powell and Carey Kieffer.  Participants found the class to be very informative and learned about glassware, common mixes, types of liquor, common needs for a home bar and much more.  They also sampled several different drinks made by the instructors.

“In addition to teaching the basic points of bartending. we also showed them the differences in the products and variations of wines” says David Campbell, owner of Sunset Bar and Grille.

“Also they learned that there’s much more to being a professional bartender than just opening beers, it’s mostly about service and personality. Our employees do an excellent job and I’m  proud of the way they were able to convey their professionalism to the class“.

MCC’s Community Connections program utilizes the many skills and talents of local businesses to offer unique courses to the community. “ The Mixology 101 course is a fine example of how businesses and the college can partner together to provide fun and unusual learning experiences for people to enjoy” says Barbara Campbell, Assistant Dean at MCC. “We greatly appreciate the folks at Sunset for sharing their talents and facility to host such an interesting and informative class.”
